What's new this week? Well... first of all... we have a new blog created just for our Spirit of Joy family! This will be a place where you can connect with Spirit of Joy 24/7! No matter where you are (on vacation, at work, by the pool...) you can stop by to see what's going on in the current week and in the weeks ahead. Money Matters
This coming Sunday, August 13th at 10:00am, Laurie Halvorson is providing a workshop for parents with kids between the ages of 6 and 12. Reflect on values you want your kids to learn, teach your kids about money and values, and learn practical tools and techniques to make teaching about money fun. Questions? School Supplies for the Needy
During the month of August we ware collecting school supplies for needy children in our area. This is being sponsored by the Missions Committee. There is a box in the narthex for your donations.

Blessing of the Animals
Sunday, September 6th at the 8:30am outdoor Worship service, there will be a blessing of the animals. You are welcome to bring your animals for a blessing.

AWANA is gearing up!
Wednesday, Spetember 2 at 6:00pm: Parent/Guardian Information Session and register your children. (Awana begins September 9th) This program is for preschool through 5th graders. Volunteers are needed!!! For more information, please contact Janie Owens at 704-843-1280 or owensj@usa.redcross.org

Choir Retreat - September 18-20 - Camp Kinard
If you are interested in joining the adult choir or being a part of the Christmas Cantata, come and sing to God's glory all weekend! (Plus there's fellowship, devotions, and food!) Questions - Call Rhonda Mauney at 704-588-3710

Lutheran Youth Day - Lenoir Rhyne University - Saturday, September 19th
All 6th-12th grade Lutheran Youth and Advisors are welcome to come for good food, great football and plenty of fun and fellowship. Register and Campus tours at 3:45pm. "College Singers" will perform; all you can eat buffet, and football game at 7:00pm! Cost is $7 per person. Register by September 11th.
